Why
did you become interested in fitness?
I have been involved in sports my whole life. Once I graduated
from college, I needed a new outlet for competition. With my extensive
dance background and other athletic abilities, fitness competitions
were a perfect fit. Once I started, I couldn't stop. It's a "good"
addiction to have. It forces me to eat healthy and stay in shape.
Most people give 100%, I like to give 110%!
When
did you first start working out?
My first exposure to sports was at the age of four. My mother
threw me into dance hoping that I would release the large amounts
of energy I had. I ended up excelling in jazz, tap, ballet, acrobat,
and tumbling.
I
later competed in track & field. I competed in the heptathalon.
Having to compete in 7 different events that consisted of running,
jumping, and throwing was a big physical challenge. It was then
that I started weight lifting. Lifting weights greatly enhanced
my performance in all the events. I haven't stopped ever since...
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
You could call me a sports buff. I love all sports. I like watching
and playing them. Running, biking, aerobics, rollerblading, tennis,
softball, and volleyball are some of the sports I play on a regular
basis. I wish I had time to participate in more!
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
I want to obtain more exposure in the fitness industry. Coming
from a small town in Massachusetts, it is very difficult to get
recognition of my past and current winnings. I am currently training
for the Nationals and hope that I can do well enough to attain
my IFBB Pro card. On a smaller scale, I want to continue to learn
more about how to better myself both physically and mentally.
I have met some great people over the past few years who have
given me very helpful advice on how to improve on my skills and
physique. It is important to have self-confidence and to be healthy.
Exercise helps your mind, body, and soul.
