Muscle & Fitness Mania June 2000 2nd place/Best Poser
Why
did you become interested in fitness?
When I was 16 years old my mother, who is a personal trainer,
took me to an IDEA World Fitness conference. I loved the lifestyle
so much I came home and became a certified trainer. I think having
my mother so involved in the health industry inspired me to be
who I am today and what I will be tomorrow.
Another
inspiration for me was Cory Holly, a Canadian Health and Fitness
expert. I went to a lecture of his and he encouraged us to write
down our goals and accomplish them within one year. One of my
goals was to compete in a bodybuilding competition.
I
dedicated that entire year to training and reaching the goal I
set out to achieve. I did end up on stage one year after I wrote
my goal down. Even though I have since competed in other shows
I have to say that was the most fulfilling, life changing competition
yet. Competing has been great yet the journey of reaching that
goal meant more to me.
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
Because I live in the West I take advantage of our mild weather
systems. I love getting outside and enjoy walking and hiking.
The clean air is invigorating and is an essential part of my life.
I try to get outside for activity at least 5 days a week. I like
using my own bodyweight for resistance as opposed to weight training.
Pull ups, dips, and push ups help prepare me for the obstacle
course at the Galaxy competitions.
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
I would like to inspire people in all aspects of life. Whether
I grace a cover, lecture at a junior high school on eating disorders,
or be a role model for my own children, I hope to inspire many
others in choosing health for life.
