Why
did you become interested in fitness?
Maintaining a certain degree of fitness has always been a necessity
to living and feeling great. I’ve always loved being strong
and athletic and have appreciated what my body has allowed me
to do. I was first introduced to the competitive arena of fitness
by watching the Fitness America ESPN series on tv. I found that
I had discovered a new outlet outside of the usual mainstream
sports. Plus I was thrilled to be able to combine what I had
loved and enjoyed doing in high school… dancing, tumbling,
and showin off some good ol’ strength. Having a older sister
(Tanji Johnson) who came before me and also opted to chose this
route has become quite successful in this industry. In return
her success and similar background has motivated and encouraged
me to keep takin it to another level! Staying fit and being in
shape didn’t have to end because high school came to a
close.
When
did you first start working out?
In high school, I had cheered and ran track... messed with weights
here and there but didn't seriously start weight training till
the age of 17. It was right after I had competed in my first
NPC show…I looked around and said “Wow, I guess fitness
is more than just the routine”…haha! With the help
of my very first trainer Ron Emmons, within a few months period…I
witnessed my body change rapidly into a beautiful, athletic,
and sculpted body. I have thrilled and humbled to have had the
pleasure of working with people who took the time to believe
in me and work with me.
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I
looooooooove to dance. I can dance to almost anything. As long
as the beat keeps goin…I keep movin!
It serves as great cardio on the weekends believe it or not.
Its fun, you’re sweating, and you don’t even realize
that you’re getting a good workout!
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
I would love to one day turn pro in the near future. I feel that
it would be a huge accomplishment, honor, and a privilege to
be among the best in a very competitive field. As a competitor,
I want to bring all my creative talents to the stage while staying
true to who I am. I do not necessarily wish to conform to what
is “mainstream,” but instead present the best possible “me” on
stage!
Whether
pro or amateur, I believe that I can represent this industry
well and serve as an ambassador to the sport while
promoting
fitness of all ages. Luckily for me, I know that I will only
get better with age, which is why I stress to my peers the
importance of staying fit in order to preserve one’s youth.
Additional
Notes
I would just like to thank my family and friends who have supported me along
the way. As we all know, this is a very demanding sport and I greatly appreciate
the people who have taken the time to understand me. I am very humbled and blessed
to have had the pleasure of working with my trainers and mentors. Thank you all
and God Bless.
