Why did you become interested in fitness?
Initially, I began lifting weights to supplement my martial arts training. Being the only female in the club, I often had 200lb training partners. As I became more involved in lifting weights, I began reading about fitness & bodybuilding competitions and eventually got the competition bug. I did my first competition after seriously training for only 8 months and managed to place third. It was enough to get me hooked and training for more!

When did you first start working out?
I began weight training seriously in January of 1999, but had been into a fit lifestyle for years earlier...working my way up through the belt system in Karate, mountain biking and overall general fitness.

What other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
My husband and I own a Martial Arts club, so between the club and the gym, I stay pretty busy with training. I also love to run the track and stadium steps for a good cardio workout.

What are your goals within the fitness industry?
I would like to continue educating myself and others on fitness and nutrition, continue inspiring and motivating women and letting them know they don't have to starve themselves on fad diets in order to get the body they've always wanted. I would like to get into fitness modelling even more than I am currently... Oxygen magazine has been a long time goal.
