Career
Highlights
As I'm a fitness model, not a fitness competitor, I have no titles.
The only competition I have is myself, and believe me, that's
tough enough! (I also compete with age...eek!) I have, however,
been published in numerous fitness magazines, such as MuscleMag,
Ironman, Pump, Oxygen, Universal Matters, as well as the cover
of Natural Bodybuilding with a 4 page profile. I have been featured
in The Standard Newspaper, and have been a guest on the Jack
Peets show on 97 Hitz FM in Ontario, and I am the calendar girl
for Skycrane. I have also won many bikini contests, but
I think part of that might have to do with the fact that, as
a fitness model with a large bikini collection, I usually had
the most microscopic bikini!
During
my career as a fitness model, 3 photoshoots in particular really
stick out in my mind. The day I posed 350 feet up a tower crane
overlooking Niagara Falls...(and for anyone wondering how you
get up a tower crane, there's a very scary ladder going straight
up the middle!!) What a rush that shoot was. Fortunately,
I learned that I do not have a fear of heights. There was also
the 8 foot Boa Constrictor I was wearing for a photoshoot....
again, I learned something that day..... my fear of snakes could
be overcome, and, for those interested in useless information,
snakes drool! And, lastly, I spent 6 months on location in Hawaii,
with every day of it memorable in its own way.
Why
did you become interested in fitness?
As a kid, I was always active, and according to my Mom, always
getting into something. I was a tomboy, and participated
in gymnastics, volleyball, baseball, basketball, track, and anything
else I could convince my mom to let me try. I have always
enjoyed a challenge, particularly a physical one, so transforming
my 98 lb physique seemed a natural transition to my present day
state of "glamour-tomboy". Having nicknames like
Bones, Quarter Pint, and Little One was okay in highschool, but
got a little annoying as an 18 year old with an attitude, so,
I decided to do something about it and I hit the gym, hard.
I think I was hooked on my first workout.
When
did you first start working out?
I started working out right after I graduated high school.....
never mind when exactly that was!
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
When I have the time, which isn't that often, I enjoy rollerblading,
water skiing, skiing, and kick boxing classes.
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
I have a kanji tattoo that means "continuous improvement",
and I think that best describes my goals and ambitions in
all areas of my life.
Additional Notes
Well, here's a shocker for you.... I'm a total computer geek!
Yup, I admit it, "My name is Deven Jones, and I am a MAC
addict!" Fitness model, website designer, and single
mom....... that's me!
