What's OC backwards? Yep, CO, and that's where Carla Sanchez' band of merry competitors came from (Colorado, for those of you who don't know your postal abbreviations) to dominate much of the Orange County Fitness & Figure Championships.

"These shows are much more than learning how to keep protan from streaking or how to apply eyelashes without getting glue in your eyes or the fact that winking at the judges might not be the best thing for your presentation or that walking in six-inch heels is worse than walking on hot coals or that Vaseline doesn't really have that bad of a taste, but man, does it feel nasty on your teeth.  It's much more than fake nails, highlights, implants, piercings, whatever else we do to adorn our bodies and say, "look at me, look at me."  It's more than stuffing cheese and pepperoni pizza and fudge brownies and cheeseburgers into our mouths and letting our tastebuds have a glorified experience.

In reality, competing in bodybuilding, fitness, and figure is a test of our strength and a battle of our wills.  If you can make it to the day of the show and stand on that stage and present yourself in the way you envisioned all along, then you are a success."

- Jodi Miller, NPC Figure competitor
