Why did you become interested in fitness?
I went through a period of four or five years of working out hard doing cardio and mild weights, but I wasn't not getting the results that I wanted. But when I started dating my husband, he taught me a new way of eating and training. This new lifestyle allowed me to take my goals to the next level. He encouraged heavier weight training, lower carbs and higher proteins. Higher protein was the key that I was missing. Once I started seeing results, more muscle developing, and strength increasing, my competitive nature took over and now I'm an addict!

When did you first start working out?
Ten years ago I got my first gym membership. I was a cardio maniac for about 5 years, and then 5 years ago I started focusing more on weight training.

What other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I love walking, (which includes shopping), but because I love Golds Gym in Calgary so much and spend so much time there, most of my physical acitivity is done in the gym. That includes the elipitical trainers, treadmill and a class here or there. I would love to get into yoga!

What are your goals within the fitness industry?
I would love to get some local recognition, but most importantly, I want to mentor girls who started off just like me - working out like an animal and not getting the results they want. After my experience of dieting down and training for a fitness competition, I think I have a lot of knowledge on how to get results, and I now I know what works and what doesn't. I've learnt a lot and I hope to help out others with dieting and training.

Additional Notes
Feel free to send me an e-mail if you have any fitness-related questions. I would love to share some advice. In the meantime, don’t forget to eat your meat!
