Career
Highlights My
most significant athletic accomplishment has been completing my
first triathlon the Disney World Olympic
Distance Triathlon
in September, and my first biathlon in August. Also, I
have appeared twice in SHAPE magazine and on the cover and swimsuit
editorial in Delaware Today. I also have a commercial coming
out soon. I am now the former Miss Delaware USA 2003.
Why
did you become interested in fitness?
When I was a child, although active, I was overweight, and had
little self confidence. I don't know how or why, maybe genetics,
but I was a string bean in high school, but I still didn't have
much self-confidence. I started competing in pageants and
realized how a healthy body was more than just being skinny.
When I started to see results and feel better about myself, it
became a hobby and my outlet for stress.
When
did you first start working out?
When I was about 17 years old, I started working out because
I had won a free membership to the YMCA at a pageant. Little
did they know what effect that would have.
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I am continuing to train for upcoming triathlons, biathlons and
road races. I also participate in step classes, cycling classes
and pliates. I enjoy training with others. It gives me motivation
and I can share my insights.
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
My main goal is to grace the cover of magazines like Muscle & Fitness
Magazine, and perhaps appear (if only once!) in a Victoria's
Secret catalogue. If that doesn't happen, I will continue to
compete in figure/fitness competitions and obtain my nutritional
counseling certification and continue training. I am ALWAYS avaliable
for jobs- see my e-mail.
Additional
Notes
Additionally, I am also a full-time Language Arts teacher, working with 3rd and
5th grade students. Obviously, I have a hard time sitting still! I also continue
to study and play the flute, going on 13 years. My family and my boyfriend Dan
have been and continue to be my central support system. They are there for me
consistantly throught the ups and downs, and have stayed positive no matter what!
I know what whatever the future may hold, they will always be my biggest fans!
LASTLY - a BIG thank you to FitSights and all their "people" for having
us all on their site.
