1999 Aloha Classics, 1st Place Lightweight Bodybuilding &
Best Poser :)
Why
did you become interested in fitness?
I began training in August of 1997, at 162lbs. I wanted to change
my body and knew the only way to do so was to have a goal. My
trainer, Nancy Hunter, at the time didn't think I could be ready,
but I decided to shoot for the NPC Northern Colorado, just 6 months
later. I competed in bodybuilding, weighed in at 108lbs and took
5th place.
When
did you first start working out?
From there my training was off and on until I decided to try something
fun... back to back shows, Bodybuilding followed by Fitness 2
weeks later. I did the Aloha Classics bodybuilding, then
Fitness at the Northern Colorado in 2000. I trained myself and
received guidance from my current trainer, Dave Fujii, a few weeks
before the show. I took 1st place with no height classes. Since
then I have earned my Pro Card by winning my class at the first
National Figure Championships in New York, 2001.
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I just love to weight train hard and keep up with my cardio. My
trainer says that I'm a true bodybuilder at heart!
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
I want to be an inspiration to anyone who wants to compete. I
was overweight when I started training, I have NO dance or gymnastic
background, and I still won my first fitness show - with no height
classes!
My
other goal is to be a top competitor with the IFBB, whether it's
Fitness or Figure, I want to take it as far as I can. I would
love to have endorsements and do some fitness modeling on the
side, but my main goal is to be an athlete. I began competing
for myself, to improve myself, and I continue to do that everyday!
