2005's Best Photoshoot

Over the next few days leading us towards 2006, I'll share some of the ups and downs that FitSights went through the past twelve months. Let's get it started with..

It's rare that I schedule two photoshoots with the same person in advance, especially in the same week. And it's even more rare when I schedule two photoshoots in the same week with TWO models. But that was the case in September of this year when I shot with Amber Davenport and Michele Cogger. Both competitors work with the same trainer, Kim Oddo, and were going to compete at the NPC Border States show in San Diego. Michele, a San Diego resident, and Amber, from the East Coast, had built a friendship while preparing for the show and wanted to do their first photoshoot together. Not being one to turn down a shoot with two beautiful women, I happily obliged.

To take advantage of Amber's time on the West Coast, we scheduled a studio shoot and an outdoor shoot, both just a few days apart. I wasn't sure what to expect, considering it was both their first time in front of the camera, but I couldn't have been more pleased. After warming up and getting comfortable, Amber evolved into one of the best posers I've ever worked with. Her ability to evoke emotion with her posing, and more importantly, her facial expressions, made my job a breeze. Michele, on the other hand, had great energy and kept everyone loose and comfortable, which is an essential element of a great shoot. I mean, how can you not appreciate a girl that will break out a bodybuilding ab and quad pose out of nowhere. That's a talent, people.

The best news of all? I plan to shoot with both Amber and Michele in 2006. Let's see if they can defend their titles.
