Why
did you become interested in fitness?
I first got interested in fitness after college when I was personal
training and was missing some sort of competitive outlet to pursue.
I had always played some type of sport and I was ready for something
that was challenging and rewarding. I saw a fitness show and
fell in love with the sport!! The physiques were amazing and
the routines were awesome! I decided to give it a try but as
I soon found out that the routine was not my strength but my
physique was.
I
did ok competing at fitness but to move up the ladder to nationals
I knew that it would be figure that I would
have to focus on. It has become a way of life for me, now.
I try to stay as lean and fit as I can all year round so that
when
it comes time to compete or do a shoot I don’t have to
diet down to hard. Besides, it gives me strength and confidence
to know that I work hard to get this shape!!
When
did you first start working out?
I was always involved in athletics and exercise but did not get serious until
college. I participated in crew and when the average heights of the girls were
5’8” and 160 pounds to my 5’2” and 115, I had to prove
myself somehow!! So…I started lifting more intently and built some muscle.
It worked the first year but after that I was always asked to be the coxswain!!
Once I graduated from college and started personal training it just became part
of my routine and what I did. My body is my business and I have to keep it in
top form!!
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I live in Arizona and there is so much to do because the weather is always sunny!!
My husband I enjoy to take random hiking trips, the last one we did was the Grand
Canyon and did the bright angel trail down and up in 6 hours!! I don’t
recommend that but it was an experience…that is about 20 miles roundtrip!!
I also enjoy running, boxing, yoga, and going to the track to do sprints and
stadium running! As long as I am active I am happy!!
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
I plan on to continue competing and go as far as I can go. Look
for me at the Emerald Cup, Jr. Nationals, USA’s, and Nationals
this year. I would love earn my pro card but as long as I bring
the best package I can to the stage I am happy!! I am also in
the process of opening up a private studio for personal training,
group fitness, and flexibility training.
