Why
did you become interested in fitness?
In college I was always in the weight room working out and a
friend of mine said “you should try one of those fitness
competitions Andi, you’d be great!” So I entered
my first show in 1996, the NPC Wisconsin State Fitness Championships,
and won the whole thing! I was hooked! From there I competed
in various fitness, physique and obstacle course competitions.
My love of fitness also reflected in my career path where I achieved
a BS in Exercise Science and went further to achieve my Masters
Degree in Human Performance. I can definitely say I live, eat
and breathe health and fitness!
When
did you first start working out?
First of all, I was born and raised in Wisconsin. YES! I am
a true Cheesehead! Go Packers! Ever since I was a little girl
growing up with two older brothers, I was always active and involved
in sports. I loved being outdoors running, jumping, climbing,
swimming, skating, and of course, sledding in the winter! Oh
those Wisconsin winters! I think I played every sport under the
sun, but when I reached Junior High and High School I became
specifically involved in competitive gymnastics, dance and track.
I am a very goal-oriented person and I loved being “on
stage” and having that rush of adrenaline when performing.
It wasn’t until college that I really hit the weights hard
and began to see the transformations in my physique. That’s
when I got that competitive itch again and was introduced to
the world of fitness competitions.
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I love doing anything outdoors including rollerblading, hiking,
biking, and long walks on the beach. Is eating considered a physical
activity? Because I sure do love to eat!!
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
Now that I’ve achieved my long-time goal of getting my
Pro Card in the IFBB, I want to continue to be a role model in
my community and to others in the industry. I’ve put my
heart and soul into the health and fitness industry and I want
to share my knowledge and experience with others. Nothing is
more rewarding than helping others achieve their fitness goals,
no matter how large or small. I want to continue competing in
the Pro Figure Division and better myself as a competitor and
as a person. I’m keeping an open mind and an open spirit
and having fun competing. I’ve had my share of ups and
downs in life, as everyone has, but the key is to stay strong
and keep believing. Everything happens for a reason! I’m
really excited to see what new doors will open and what the future
has in store!
