I have to say
that I have been blessed in that I do love competing. After doing
3 NPC figure shows, 2 photo shoots and 3 Hawaiian
Tropic contests last summer, I was a bit burnt out. But my desire
is back again and I won’t stop until I reach my goals and
achieve my dreams.

Why
did you become interested in fitness?
I had always worked out in one way or another all my life, but
when I started seeing beautiful, fit, muscular women in the “muscle” magazines,
I wanted to work harder to put on muscle and to shape my body
like theirs. I’d have to say Monica Brandt was my first
inspiration, and since then Elaine Goodlad has become my role
model. They are what I consider beautiful, not skinny stick-figure
models who walk down the runway.
When
did you first start working out?
I first started working out in high school, taking step classes
and doing the “Nautilus” machines. But it wasn’t
until I met my husband, Larry, that I started lifting weights
correctly and eating better. I wanted to do something to show
off my efforts in the gym, so I began competing. Considering
I had no clue what I was doing, I did OK. But now that I am under
the guidance of Mike Davies, I feel more confident and excited
to compete.
What
other physical activities do you enjoy to stay fit?
I love to hike in the woods with my puppydog. He has to go for
walks everyday or else he pouts, so as long as it’s nice
out, we walk or run trails. If I ever get to live near the ocean,
I plan on doing more scuba diving since I’m certified in
it.
What
are your goals within the fitness industry?
My ultimate goal is to get my pro card in figure. But I realize
I have to climb that ladder one rung at a time. I also love being
in front of the camera, so the more photo shoots I do, the happier
I am. As far as my fitness business here at home, I hope to be
an inspiration to my clients and I want to continue helping other
people achieve their fitness goals because I know how good it
feels to accomplish something that you desire.
Additional
Notes:
I definitely must thank my husband for all of his love and
support. And I must thank Mike Davies for his guidance, words
of encouragement, and for kicking my ass in Bootcamp. As far
as personal training, sponsorships, appearances, or if you
just want to send me a present, you can contact me at amiefry@hotmail.com.
