Updated Fitness & Figure Rankings

At the halfway point of the IFBB Fitness season, the rankings are starting to fall into place and a leader has risen to the top. After back-to-back fitness victories — a feat that hasn't been accomplished since Adela Garcia in 2004 — Tanji Johnson has launched herself into a formidable lead for the top spot, a full ten points ahead of the nearest competition (Julie Childs and Mindi O'Brien).

One thing that works against Tanji, however, is the small nature of the '06 fitness schedule. Even though competitors like Adela Garcia, Kimberly Klein and Jen Hendershott have only competed once this season, they still remain within striking distance of the number one ranking. These last few shows should make for an interesting finale to the season, where how many competitions someone enters may play as big of a role as how they place in them.

In figure, a new champion was crowned as well — at least for the time being. Latisha Wilder, who has been overdue for a figure win in general, gets a feather in her cap after accumulating enough points to move into the top ranking just ahead of Christine P-P. Amanda Savell, Gina Camacho, Jennifer Searles, Jenny Lynn, Michelle Flake, Chastity Slone, Jessica Paxson and Tara Scotti are all hot on Latisha and Christine's heels, with only five points separating first from tenth.

The Europa marked the start of the second half of the season, with six shows still remaining. That being said, theres a good chance that top ten will look alot different come the Sacramento Pro show.. but you never know, Latisha may stay hot, win a show or two and roll to the end with the number one ranking.

Fast Facts - Angela Semsch is the only fitness competitor to enter every show in '06 ... Tanji's back-to-back wins were a first since '04 when Adela did it at the Show of Strength and Olympia ... Amanda Savell has the highest point average per show at 11.5 (minimum 2 shows)
