Dictionaries define the adjective halcyon as calm and peaceful, as well as prosperous and golden. Not often does one name truly capture the essence of a person, but at the NPC Ironman figure competition, that was the case. Not even sure if she would compete this year, law school student and M&F Hers covergirl Halcyon "Halcy" Duarte confidently stepped on stage at the Pasadena Center and was nothing short of golden, capturing the title in her class as well as the overall crown. Also winning their respective classes were Avis Ware and Jamie Fisher.
On a personal note, it just so happened that the first precipitation Southern California gets in over 40 days happens to be on the weekend of the Ironman. That, along with low temperatures and a cold that's been keeping me down, forced me to make a rare cancellation of the shoots I had lined up. A big thanks to Jana Stewart and Sandra Ejnes for their consideration and understanding.

Halcy looked absolutely awesome - the best I've ever seen her. She's obviously put in a lot of hard work as is evident in her outstanding physique. Congrats Halcy!
It was Halcyon and pretty much everyone else at the show.
No brainer there. (and I had some acquaintences competing so that's not an easy thing to say)
Congrats to her.
